Hello color, goodbye neutrals!
When I purchased my first home back in May 2021, my taste in interior design was lacking color. White walls, white kitchen, neutral floors – it basically looked like I was living in a sterile hospital room. This time around, I have been inspired by other interior designers to incorporate more color into my space rather than living in a sad beige world.
For reference, I live in a two bedroom two bath condo on the first floor (thankful for no stairs!) In my last house, the main bedroom was truly an afterthought. I never decorated it, the room contained just my bed and dresser. When designing my bedroom for this condo, I wanted to incorporate a lot of color without it feeling too overwhelming or distracting.
I will do my best to link as much as I can!
Bedroom Paint & Wallpaper
I decided to do a two tone contrast with the walls and take advantage of the high ceilings. For the paint and trim, I used Simply Blue by Behr and for the wallpaper I used this brand from Wayfair. The blue paint and floral wallpaper really make this room calming.
Another simple way to add character to a room is by adding picture frame wall moldings and switching out the door knobs for new ones. I ended up switching all the door knobs on all the doors in my house with these door knobs in polished brass from Wayfair.
Bedroom Furniture
My bed, headboard and mattress are from Wayfair and my pillowcase and comforter are from Target. The velvet pink chair is from Wayfair and the vintage nightstands and mirror are from Amazon.
Closet
For the inside of the closet, I decided not to paint it and leave it as is, but I did add a closet system since the closet only came with one rod. Having a closet system has made organizing my clothes so easy and everything is neatly put away! I still have extra storage space at the top of the closet and with some of the shelves.
My favorite clothing items are from Miss Patina, they make the cutest vintage inspired clothing and the best cat inspired apparel!
To the right of the closet is my bathroom, you can see here for what the bathroom looks like since it was the first renovation I did the condo when I moved in.
