Favorite Halloween & Horror Movie Roundup

by Candice

The second summer is over, the Halloween decorations come out and Hocus Pocus (along with some scary movies) is on repeat the whole month of October.

I am visiting my friend in France this year and it will be my first Halloween not in the U.S. Nala will be staying with my parents for the week and will help pass out candy to the trick-or-treaters.

My favorite activity in the fall is going to Six Flags Great Adventure for Fright Fest! Aside from that I absolutely love watching horror movies on Halloween while stuffing my face with candy.

To honor my favorite holiday, I am listing a roundup of my favorite horror movies for this special day in no particular order.

Movie Roundup List

  1. Halloweentown: Firstly, is it even Halloween without Halloweentown?! I remember watching this on Disney channel and this will always be a classic. I will never forget my favorite line in this movie “Being normal is vastly overrated.”
  2. Halloweentown High: Secondly, this is my second favorite movie of this franchise. For obvious reasons we don’t talk about the 4th and final movie from this franchise.
  3. The Conjuring: Thirdly, any movie with paranormal activity, consider me in! Bonus points for creepy dolls as well, – I’m looking at you Annabelle.
  4. Scream: Scream was the first horror movie I was introduced to, I remember watching this movie for the first time at 12 years old and was easily scared by all the sudden appearances of ghostface jumping out. Little did I know at that time, scream would go on to be a successful franchise, launching it’s “requel” earlier this year. To this day, Scream is hands down my favorite horror movie.
  5. Scream 4: This movie came almost a decade after the third movie premiered and I was so excited to see it in theatres. It was the perfect opportunity to reboot the franchise with a millennial spin to it.
  6. Scream 5: Aside from the original Scream, this “requel” is the best one yet in the franchise and I cannot wait for the sixth film to come out. I saw this in theatres when it came out back in January 2022. It was my first time going back to the movie theatre after COVID and this movie did not disappoint!
  7. Annabelle: If you are the type of person into creepy dolls, then this movie is for you. The
  8. Hocus Pocus: A Halloween classic! I still have yet to see the second Hocus Pocus.
  9. The Amityville Horror: This is another classic horror film that I was introduced to
  10. The Strangers: If you like movies with people scaring others in a creepy mask, then this movie is for you.

I can watch these movies on repeat and I still never get tired of it. There are still so many horror movies that I have yet to watch.
