The Lost Art of Journaling

by Candice

The lost art of journaling is and always will be therapy for me. It is my time to sit alone with my thoughts and let them pour through from pen to paper.

I started journaling the summer going into my freshman year of college on a composition notebook, not knowing how journaling was going to be apart of my everyday life. I developed a habit of consistently writing in my journal which ended up leading me to invest in a nicer journal from Barnes & Noble.

After graduating college, I stopped journaling unintentionally and up until recently I started to pick it back up. After taking about seven years off, I picked up a pen and paper and just started writing, with no particular topic in mind. It felt relieving to let my thoughts out onto pen and paper rather than hearing the thoughts in my head.

Journaling is More Intimate Then What I’ll Ever Put on The Blog

I have seen an increase in influencers and content creators post about bullet journals and how they craft their journals with beautiful drawings, stamps, stickers and colors. While that is fun to do, I enjoy just simply writing rather than adding decor to my journal.

I often feel that journaling is becoming lost art as most people nowadays switch to digital writing (including me) however there is something so satisfying about opening up a journal and using a pen. Part of the reason I created Studio & Co. Design is because of how much I love writing and I wanted to be able to create this more as a creative outlet for myself rather than it being a personal journal filled with photos of me and my life.

My friend gifted me this cat journal below and I cannot wait to start filling it up with my never ending thoughts.

While I do like to share things about my life from time to time, I will keep the majority of it for my therapy session with my journal (it doesn’t judge me.)
