Life Lately: April 2024

by Candice

Welcome back to Life Lately, the April edition! I am excited to recap what I’ve been up to in March and share my plans for April 2024 and life behind the scenes.

Life Lately April 2024

March has been such a long and busy month. I took some time off this month on the blog to rest and recharge. It truly does wonders taking time off and not checking social media 24/7. I took a staycation last week and stayed with my parents. We went to the DreamWorks waterpark at the American Dream Mall and it was a lot of fun! I went on all the rides, swam through the wave pool and took multiple laps arounds the lazy river. If you know me, you know I love waterparks and while March is usually cold, I’m grateful for indoor waterparks like this one to bring warmth all year round even in the darkest of winters.

I treated myself to a head spa at Sorella Spa in Cherry Hill. I’ve seen so many videos and photos online of this and immediately knew I wanted to try this. I booked my session a month in advance since they tend to book up fast and have very limited appointments available. They offer two sessions, a fifty minute head spa and an eighty minute head spa. I had the eighty minute session and I immediately felt so relaxed and it actually helped relieve some tension in my head as I tend to get a lot of headaches. If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend this spa! This was hands down the best spa experience I’ve ever had on my scalp.

I also turned 30 last week on March 27th, celebrating a milestone birthday! It was a pretty low key birthday, I went thrift shopping in Union, NJ and found some great items and then had Ethiopian food for dinner from my favorite Ethiopian restaurant Dashen in New Brunswick, NJ and ended the night with my favorite birthday cake from Milk Bar! For me, it isn’t a birthday without any Milk Bar products. I ordered the cake online and had it delivered on the 26th and I also ordered a dozen of their cookies, my three favorites are the corn cookie, cornflake marshmallow chocolate chip and the compost cookie.

Currently Eating

March has been a month of celebrations and I’ve been stuffing my face with Milk Bar. I also made some pistachio brittle cookies which turned out okay. I’m still in the process of perfecting brittle. I’m working on being more mindful of what I put in my body and trying to incorporate more protein.

I have plans to develop more recipes this month and cannot wait to share it here on the blog soon!

I am also obsessed with adding oatmeal into my morning shake. Blending oatmeal with almond milk tastes like I’m eating cake batter in the best way possible.

Currently Watching

Very unlike me, but I decided to watch This is Us. I’m trying to watch tv and movies that are outside my realm of comfort (crime, mystery, thriller, horror) and I have to say I actually really like This is Us. I currently am on season two and I really enjoy the storytelling of each character through different time periods in their lives. It reminds me a modern family but in a non-comical, heartfelt way.

I also binged the second season of Buying Beverly Hills in two days. I like this show more compared to Selling Sunset as the realtors on the show look like they actually sell real estate and not to mention the stark difference in the attire from the agents that work at The Agency compared to the agents at The O Group.

Selling The OC is also another show that is my guilty pleasure to watch. The drama on this show is more severe than the drama on Selling Sunset. I really hope they release the third season in April! I’ve been waiting a long time for the third season to come out.

Life Behind the Scenes

In mid-March, I had my fireplace tiled and I added a chandelier above my dining table.

There is a wall in my living room that was just begging for some artwork to be hung, but I was struggling with how I wanted to style the space. After scrolling through pinterest I came across an image of another blogger who created a DIY gallery wall using frames from Ikea and paint samples. I loved the way it turned out and got to work on creating my own gallery wall, you can read more about it here.

Nala

Nala has also enjoyed taking time off, she loves to take long naps and with the days being longer, her bird friends wake her up in the morning with their high pitch chirps to talk to her.

She likes to keep an eye out through the window to check on her neighborhood animal friends. Although the saying April showers bring May flowers couldn’t be more true as we’re expected to have rain the first week of April and even snow! So Nala’s friends might not be visiting her the first week of April.

That wraps up the April 2024 edition of Life Lately, see you in May!
